If you enjoy my property development content, please subscribe to my homestead channel, BPo3 Homestead. I published two videos over there this morning. (new trail vehicle)

Straight from the YouTube channel about section:
BPo3 = Bates Party of 3: Jay, Jamie, and Tyler Kay. Sharing our journey of leaving a comfortable life in a nice community in a small city to buy and develop 101 acres of untouched woods. The land is half hardwoods and half pine, has a creek running through one end, and a small, overgrown 4-wheeler trail running through it. Follow along as
we develop the property into our forever/generational property.
Why a new channel? A few reasons..
The first and most obvious reason is that my main Jay Bates YouTube channel has always been pretty focused on woodworking with very little other stuff. This year has been a departure from that, and people have, rightfully so, voiced their opinion about the
property content not being woodworking. I get it. I was hoping to be back to woodworking by now, but I'm not. This channel will eventually get back to woodworking. I appreciate your patience!
The second reason is that I think there might be some throttling with my YouTube channel. This is complete speculation, and I don't have definitive proof—just a feeling. Something feels off, and it has for quite a while, way before the
beginning of this property venture (2021-ish). As a fallback, I started a new channel to share more laid-back, sometimes long-form content from the property life that I don't want to cannibalize my main channel with.
The third reason is I really enjoy the homestead/outdoor work of directly improving the lives of myself and my family. It's incredibly gratifying, and I don't plan to stop recording my progress. Forget the
money/business side of these videos for a moment. These videos are incredibly valuable for my personal life and for my family to look back upon and relive this incredible life we are creating. When you live it, you enjoy it once. When you record it, you can enjoy it as many times as you want. When the shop is up and running I don't think I will flip a switch and return to structured in-shop woodworking and just stop recording the new property life. In-shop woodworking is still a passion of mine,
and I'll never give that up, but it is just one of the many wheel spokes of what interests me. Instead of woodworking being my entire broadcasted toolbox, woodworking is one of the biggest tools inside my toolbox.
Over the next few years, I see my day-to-day activities being dependent upon the weather. If it's miserable outside, I'll create inside. But if the weather is good enough to record outside, that's where I will be. As a kid, I basically
grew up outside, and reflecting upon the past five years of woodworking almost strictly inside my last shop has made me realize the joy I was missing by being outside. Simply put, I do not like to be inside and prefer to be outside any chance I get.
This also opens the doors to many more creative possibilities. I want to get a sawmill. I want to harvest my own lumber from my own trees and use that material to create around the property. That's
both woodworking and homesteading. I'd love to get back to creating with metal (metal before woodworking in my late high school years). My focus used to be narrowed, essentially focusing on the tree. Now, I've zoomed out to appreciate the whole forest, and I don't see a limit to the amount of fun and personal growth I can experience. No pun intended.
The best way you can support what I am doing is by watching content on the BPo3 channel, as I have
yet to reach the stats to get it monetized. Please join me on this new venture. Subscribe to BPo3 Homestead on YouTube:

Also, I have a tip jar setup on my website for those who wish to
contribute directly. I don't like advertising this, because I don't like handouts, but several people have asked what is the best way to directly contribute without other platforms taking a huge cut (YouTube takes 30% of your direct contributions to creators via the YouTube Membership program!!).
